Beginning in January 2010, our monthly meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month except for June, July and August when no regular meetings are scheduled. I am disappointed that I can't announce, at this time, where the meetings will be held.

The meeting day was changed from Saturday to make it more convenient for the members and to increase the number of possible locations, church halls etc. Originally the use of church meeting halls was limited on a Saturday because of weddings and other activities that could conflict with our meeting or parking.

We selected Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church because of their excellent facilities when in an emergency we had our September 2009 meeting. When we visited the church to make arrangements we were confronted with two additional problems. There is another church group that meets in the hall on Wednesday until about 12:30 pm and no guarantee that they will be out by 1:00 pm. In addition, as in most churches, funeral services are held on weekdays throughout the year. Some funerals have few people attend and some have many. On Monday when we visited the church they had just completed a funeral with 250 people attending. There is also a pre-school with people parking to pick up or drop off children which would utilize some of the parking. There are only 38 parking spaces in the parking lot which may be filled by the women's group scheduled to leave at 12:20 pm, or by the pre-school or a funeral service. On street parking is limited on Greenwood Avenue and on the side street which only has parking on one side. We will continue to evaluate the meeting location.
