We are posting a reply to a letter written to a Republican Senator. I have not included the Senator's name simply because I do not want him to become a target. It is very well thought out and makes some important points.

On Feb. 21sth the RSPOA sent letters to all Senators and Representatives urging them to stop SB6563 and HB2350.
There has been a lot of information being put forward by lobbyists for organizations from both Plan 1 and Plan 2 members.This activity is in reference to HB2350 and SB6563.We oppose these bills and ask that you carefully review the information about these bills.Rather than recite again all of the reasons these bills are bad public policy, illegal and unconstitutional, I would like to point out the motivations of the two opposing groups as best as we can understand them.

I am writing you on behalf of the Washington State Assoc. of Retired Police Officer’s 1300 members. By this time you are probably exhausted from hearing from both LEOFF 1 members and the lobbyists for LEOFF 11 members regarding SB6563 Merger Bill. LEOFF 11 wants the pension money, rate stability and total control of their pension. Employers want their pension responsibilities to be governed by elected Legislators.
